ITINERARY DETAILS
DAY 1
Arrival in Vienna
Welcome to Austria. Your driver will greet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel in Vienna. After check in, keep the first day light and easy. Vienna rewards slow pacing, especially at the start. Your evening is at leisure, and our planners can recommend a restaurant suited to your preferences.
DAY 2
Schonbrunn and Vienna's Grand Boulevards
Your private guide will take you through Schonbrunn Palace, the Habsburg summer residence where court life played out on a grand scale. Walk through the imperial rooms and gardens that were designed as much for power as for beauty. Later, continue through Vienna's historic center and the Ringstrasse, the monumental boulevard that showcased Vienna's 19th century confidence through opera houses, museums, and grand facades.
DAY 3
Belvedere and Café Culture
This morning includes Belvedere Palace and Klimt highlights, including The Kiss, created during a period when Vienna became one of Europe's most influential cultural capitals. Later, enjoy a traditional coffee house stop, where locals still linger over newspapers and quiet conversation. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
DAY 4
Vienna to Salzburg
After breakfast, travel by train to Salzburg and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, ideal for a first walk through the Old Town as the city settles into evening.
DAY 5
Salzburg, Mirabell, and the Sound of Music Landscape
Today begins with a guided walk through Salzburg's Old Town and Mirabell Gardens, a setting closely linked to the city's baroque identity and the scenes many travelers recognize from film history. Later, enjoy a countryside day tied to The Sound of Music, with stops chosen for scenery and story rather than quick photo runs. Return to Salzburg for an evening at leisure.
DAY 6
Transfer to the Lakes Region
After breakfast, transfer into the Salzkammergut, Austria's Lakes Region, where mountain backdrops and lakeside villages shape daily life. Settle into your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at your own pace. A quiet lakeside walk, a viewpoint, or time on a terrace with changing light over the water can be the perfect way to slow down.
DAY 7
Hallstatt and Salt Heritage
Today is dedicated to Hallstatt, a village shaped by salt long before it became famous for its scenery. With your guide, visit the Salt Mine and learn why this region was once among Europe's most valuable sources of wealth, then enjoy time in the village for viewpoints and café stops. Later, enjoy a private boat ride on Lake Wolfgang or Lake Hallstatt for a different perspective of the landscape, especially when the mountains begin to reflect in the late afternoon light.
DAY 8
Lakes Region to Vienna with a Wachau Valley Stop
Depart for Vienna and break the journey with a stop in the Wachau Valley, one of Austria's most beautiful stretches of the Danube. Depending on your interests, this can include a visit to Melk Abbey, a short walk through Durnstein, or a wine tasting stop, all designed to keep the day comfortable and rewarding. Continue to Vienna and check in for your final night. Evening at leisure.
DAY 9
Departure
After breakfast, your private driver will transfer you to Vienna Airport for your onward flight.
