Antigua
Overview:
A beach for every
day of the year, with one left over, say
Antiguans. You'll definitely find one you like,
whether your taste runs to quiet coves, breezy
windsurfing waters, or lively sports scenes.
St. John's, the capital and main town, is also
the premier shopping destination. Shops and
restaurants at Redcliffe Quay are set around
courtyards. For duty-free shopping, visit
Heritage Quay. You can also do well in shops
located in English Harbor and dotted around the
island. Best buys include perfume, liquor,
emeralds, jewelry, china and crystal.
You'll find plenty of dining choices, from
excellent white tablecloth establishments to
casual beach grills. Check out the entertainment
at the resorts, including steel bands, calypso
singers and limbo dancers. Both St. John's and
English Harbor have high-spirited dance clubs.
Feeling lucky? Antigua has four casinos.
Resorts on Antigua are your base for sailing,
windsurfing, deep-sea fishing and diving.
